About Us: The Episcopal Churches of Richmond County, Virginia include St. John’s Church (Lunenberg Parish) located in the county seat, Warsaw, and Farnham Church (North Farnham Parish) located 10 miles away in the village of Farnham.
Richmond County is centrally located in the historic Northern Neck of Virginia between the Rappahannock and Potomac rivers and the Chesapeake Bay. Our beautiful region offers two state parks and provides an abundance of outdoor activities throughout the year.
Our Community: The Northern Neck is home to some of the best public-school systems in Virginia including Rappahannock Community College. There are public libraries in every county and high-speed internet available in most of the rural communities. We are fortunate to have two area hospitals and a variety of medical services available within a 15–30-minute drive.
Tradition & Worship Style: Joint worship services are offered at 10 a.m. on a weekly rotation between both churches. Holy Eucharist is celebrated biweekly alternating with Morning Prayer using the Rite II liturgy in the BCP. However, the congregation is familiar with Rite I which may be used at certain times of the year. Our congregation enjoys attending special services including Evensongs, Thanksgiving, Blessing of the Animals, Queen Anne and Holy Week. Although historically a 10:30 p.m. “midnight” Christmas Eve service has been offered at St. John’s, an earlier 5 p.m. “family” service at N. Farnham is preferred by most parishioners. Our musical style is traditional, singing from The Hymnal 1982 and Lift Every Voice and Sing II accompanied by piano currently at both churches.
